Denver is Back - Nuggets Win Game 2

the Nuggets-Lakers series brought a shirt drenching reversal of fortunes. The game was everything basketball fans scream for – at least, in the second half. In some ways, Game 2 was a reflection of Game 1: one team grabbed an easy lead in the first half before the other team claimed the victory in the last seconds. The big difference was the winners. On Thursday, an exhausted but victorious team stumbled to the Denver locker room while the Lakers fled the court. The Nuggets won Game 2 with 106 points against the Lakers’ 103 points. The Nuggets did more than prove themselves serious contenders in what looks to be a long series; they were able to end a 24-year long playoff loss – made up of 11 consecutive games – against the Lakers. And they did it in the last 29 seconds of the fourth quarter. Carmelo Anthony, Kobe Bryant’s Olympic teammate from last summer, proved the superstar of the evening. He made 34 points and 9 rebounds, becoming the first Denver player since 1976 to score over 30 points in 5 straight playoff games. But Melo did more than play great offense; he seemed the only Denver player that was able to limit Bryant, managing to prevent 4 buckets of 6 attempts when one-on-one. His teammates, however, gave Bryant 16 points on 8-for-14 shooting. Nevertheless, the Nuggets performance was a brought about by an overall effort. Chauncey Billups added a heavy 27 points, while Linas Kleiza added 16. In fact, Kleiza’s 16 and 8 made up about 80% of Denver’s bench points. Nene had 6 points but managed 9 rebounds and 6 assists. On the home team, Kobe Bryant had 32 points and made 10 of 10 free throws, while Trevor Ariza added 20 points in a playoff career-high and Pau Gasol made 17 with 17 rebounds. The first half of the game saw both teams playing a sluggish game, though the Lakers managed a 14 point lead early in the second quarter. The Nuggets responded, making 16 of the quarter’s final 20 points, with Anthony making 14 in a row. Then, moments before halftime, Billups made a play that stunned the Lakers and must have left his teammates cackling. He bounced the ball off of Kobe Bryant’s back, caught it, and used it to score on a layup. Whether it was due to Anthony’s performance or BIllups’ jab, the second quarter seemed to turn the tide. The Nuggets went back into their locker room one point behind the Lakers, at 55-54. Much of the second half of the game was spent head-to-head. Anthony made a jumper, tying the game at 56 as the building seemed to hold its collective breath. Trevor Ariza drove for the basket and managed 7 points; the Nuggets countered with the “Birdman” Chris Anderson, who interrupted Derek Fisher’s layup and managed to add his own 7 points. The tension arrived in the last seconds of the fourth quarter. With less than a minute to go, the score was tied at 101 after Bryant’s jumper. Kenyon Martin scored on a layup with passes from Billups and Nene, giving the Nuggets the lead. Bryant lost the ball on the Lakers’ next possession. Billups made three of four final free throws, missing one and ending the Nuggets’ 17 consecutive foul shouts. Nevertheless, it was enough for a 3 point lead that Bryant, with heavy guarding from Anthony, was unable to overcome. The ball ended up in Fisher’s hands, and he was unable to make a final 3 pointer from the right corner through Nene. The game ended, and the Lakers lost. The Nuggets recovered from their loss in Game 1 and staked out their victory in Game 2. No longer does the series seem a walk in the park for the Lakers, who had projected a future game with the Cleveland Cavaliers, pitting Bryant against budding superstar and NBA MVP LeBron James. “It ain’t just going to be us and Orlando lay down so [Bryant and James] can play in two weeks,” the Nuggets’ Martin said. “That ain’t going to happen. I’m going to make sure it don’t. Y’all can go home and play NBA Live or something like that if y’all want to see that matchup. We’re going to have something to say about it.”

Network Marketing Now - How to Turn MLM Gold Nuggets Into Worm Poop

Friday, September 25th, 2009
Eldon Beard asked:

Every network marketer hopes someday to sponsor a heavy hitter who can propel their business forward and start making dreams come true. We all keep our fingers crossed that one day it will happen. If this did happen to you, would you be ready?

A few years ago, I knew a man who did this. He was a great guy, and everyone liked him. I will call him James. This is not really his name. I would not want to embarrass this guy, because to this day he is still involved in MLM and network marketing online.

James was known for his rather “diversified” approach to MLM. He delighted in joining just about every opportunity he could find, and promoted all of them at the same time. I once saw an advertisement he posted online. He listed ten businesses he was involved with, and said “Pick one you like and join me on the road to riches”. Really. Can you imagine?

At this time, I was involved with a network marketing business. My upline was a very well known “heavy hitter” in the industry. I won’t reveal his name, but this man is still very much on top of the MLM world and is wealthy many times over. The business we were in folded and shut the doors one Friday evening, which left the heavy hitter with a dilemma. He had to pick up a new opportunity and keep his downline together.

At this point, James showed up. He was also in the downline of this heavy hitter. Since James was enrolled in almost every known MLM program, this is no surprise. Anyway, he saw an opportunity and decided to send the heavy hitter some information about one of his opportunities. This network marketing opportunity was built around an established, respected company with proven products.

The heavy hitter thought the opportunity was great. He decided to sign up and had the courtesy to sign up with James, who was the first to contact him about it. Within a few days, James had hundreds of new distributors in his downline, with more coming in every day. This guy had found a pot of gold that could turn his life and business fortunes around.

The sad part of this story begins here. James decided to continue promoting all his businesses, just as before. This was a man with limited time (he had a full-time job) and resources. He continued to promote many different business opportunities, and chose not to focus his time with the opportunity that would make him rich.

People upline and downline to James were concerned, and tried to help him. After all, how often does an opportunity come along like this? How often do you sponsor one of the top leaders in network marketing into your group? Even the heavy hitter became involved and tried to help, but for reasons unknown, James did not respond.

In the end, James failed to make minimum qualifications and let the business go. All he had to do was focus on this one business, because making the qualifications and benefiting from the heavy hitter’s efforts wasn’t that hard.

How could a man who believed in MLM and network marketing get a break like this and let it go? I believe, with James, that the joy was in the chase. If he stumbled on something hot and had success, he would soon lose interest and start pursuing the next big thing.

A few months after this happened, I received an email from James. He was promoting some new MLM opportunity he found that sold “organic worm poop”. In the email, he invited me to join this one “just for fun”. How sad. This man had it all going his way and continued to join and promote every junky MLM business he could find. This is a true story - it really happened.

Don’t let this happen to you. Don’t be an MLM junkie. Find and focus on one good business. Consider this. If someone like James was able to find and sponsor an MLM heavy hitter, think how much better you could you do if you find and focus on one good network marketing business?

After the hot opportunity in worm poop, a few years went by. I heard nothing more from James. Then, just a few months ago, I got a nice postcard in the mail. It was from James, inviting me to join a travel MLM. The message on the card was “Join me and travel the world - let’s make money and get rich together”.

Sure, James. Hold your breath, I’ll be there in a minute.

Denver Nuggets Team

Pamela Walker asked:

The Denver Nuggets is a National Basketball Association team that is located in Denver. They are a charter member of the American Basketball Association and had to struggle in its initial seasons and were unsuccessful in bagging a championship title. It is amongst the seven teams that are included in the Midwest Division of the West Conference of the National Basketball Association. They play at the Pepsi Center in Denver wearing gold, red and blue colored uniforms.

They had a very strong lineup that initially featured Byron Beck and Larry Jones and later featured Beck and Ralph Simpson. The contentious rookie that is Spencer Haywood became a member of the team in the late 60’s. Haywood is amongst the first few players who became professional before they graduated from college. Owing to this NBA in the start had disapproved of letting him play in the team. He had an average of 30 points and almost 20 rebounds per game in the ABA season. He later signed a contract with the Seattle Supersonics and from there successfully made it to NBA.

They were earlier known as the Denver Rockets that made its entry in the American Basketball Association in 1967. Under the supervision of their head coach they were rated as one of the best ABA teams of that season having posted 65 wins. Before inclusion in NBA in 1974 a contest was held for choosing a new name for the franchise which led to the name Nuggets. It was the name of a former NBA franchise. The design of their logo showed the discovery of a ball by a miner.

Things were not looking very bright for the Nuggets’ in the late 80’s and the early 90’s as they could not make it to the postseason for three straight years. In the 2004-2005 season the team managed to make it to the playoffs for the first time in 9 years. Their coach of that time posted a 13-15 record and was fired. The coach hired in his place did not yield any successful results either and posted a record of 4-14. This led to the appointment of George Karl who was a renowned coach with an impressive track record.

The new coach Karl gave instant results and the team won five of their six matches that followed the hire. Things kept getting better and the team won 25 of 29 games and made it to the playoffs with a record of 49-33.  in the playoffs they won the first game but collapsed to the San Antonio Spurs and lost the next four games and posted a 4-1 series record.

Some of the talented players featured by the team at that time were Hall of Famers namely Alex English, Dan Issel and David Thompson. Amongst other players Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, Michael Adams, Mutombo and Earl Watson are worth a mention. Present players in the Nuggets team include Carmelo Anthony, Andre Miller, Greg Buckner, Marcus Camby, and Kenyon Martin.
